The Church of St. Anthony of Padua is a vibrant Catholic community with a number of ministries serving a congregation which is made up of many young families coming from various parts of the world.
Situated in the north eastern section of the city of Oxford, its back drop is the large and famous John Radcliffe Hospital where the Parish Priest is one of its Chaplains and many of the congregation are employed. The universities, too, are staffed with some of our parishioners.
The parish was founded in 1956 with the foundation stone of the church being laid on 4th July 1959 and completed in 1960. Its simplicity enables the varying liturgical seasons to be dramatically portrayed.
The Liturgy is of the highest priority in Parish life for it is in the liturgy, as the Second Vatican Council states, especially in the divine sacrifice of the Eucharist, that ‘the work of our redemption is accomplished.’ It is from the joyful celebration of the liturgy, then, that our ability to be good Christians flows and in serving our neighbour, the fullness of life which our Saviour Jesus Christ came to bring is accomplished.
This site is still in its developmental stage with the hopes that it will be completed in the near future.
